Here we go…

Yesterday I got to catch Transformers : Revenge of The Fallen. After watching several of the trailers, I realised that ‘The Fallen’ doesn’t really mean Megatron coming back to life. He did, but he wasn’t ‘The Fallen’. Was an even bigger and meaner guy that died too easily.

Yes, this would be a majorly negative post about the questions I’ve asked after seeing it and they’re mostly about execution of the movie.

For starters, most of the Cybertronian characters didn’t have much of a ‘character’ of their own. For example, Arcee. She’s a 3-part motorcycle that does mostly pursuit and guardian jobs, and the way she communicates to the people around her makes he sound like a tool. Not to say an idiot, but someone who follows orders without emotion. Tool.

Another one is Sideswipe. The only thing I could remember him being is an awesome looking Corvette concept car and he walked on rollers and his main weapons are dual blades. Similar to Edward Elric’s in Fullmetal Alchemist, except there’s 2 of them. Sideswipe didn’t have much character either. Except the fact he knows that he’s cool. Didn’t see much of him to judge. I like the concept of him though. No, not the car. But the fact he’s a blade wielder and runs on skates.

The main fight scene in the movie had a lot of questions in it. Like, did they use the Predator scene from the 1st movie in this one? Were they using the same setting even though they were in Egypt when the first one was in Qatar? I get that the Decepticons were sending in as many of their troops as possible to take out the humans, but we didn’t know any of them. There was a lot of confusion to who were to good guys and who were the bad guys.

Now we get to the realism of the whole concept of Tranformers. We see in the movie how Cybertronians are bred. Kinda gross if you ask me, but it does raise interesting questions. Where do those breeding sacs come from? Are they supposed to grow and how big can they grow? Are they supposed to grow throughout their life, or do they just stop growing once they reach a certain age? I get that all they need to survive is Spark energy harvested from the sun. Thats the only thing that can explain how they don’t need to eat or drink. But what makes them grow? Does the energy get converted to solid material, or do they have to find parts to utilise in their growth? Giants like Blackout and Optimus Prime dwarf their counterparts like Frenzy and Skorponok. And the list goes on and on.

But all this negative thinking can’t deny the fact that we were all knocked right out of our shorts when Transformers was introduced to us. Remember how big James Bond and colour television was when they were introduced to us. Sooner or later, Transformers will inspire younger generations the same way it has inspired generations before us.

This is probably the first blog post I’ve done since the passing of Michael Jackson. He’s done so much for us. So, in loving memory of him, I’m gonna put this up…

Apparently, it’s a routine done by inmates from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines so that they’d have something to do when they’re serving their sentence. Nice job. :)
